The first Sunday of this month marked the birthday of one of SigEp’s best known and most beloved alumni, brother Theodor Seuss Geisel, Dartmouth ’25 – more commonly known as Dr. Seuss.
To celebrate his birth and legacy, the brothers of Massachusetts Alpha partnered with the sisters of Kappa Kappa Gamma (KKG) to host a Suess-themed party with their local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter.
After countless hours of planning and preparation, the entire Massachusetts chapter turned out to read, draw, and laugh with the children. At the end of the day, every child was given the opportunity to pick out a book to cherish forever, donated through the SigEp and KKG Dr. Seuss Book Drive.
“Overall, the event was a huge success,” said philanthropy chair Chris Caro, Massachusetts ‘16. “I’m extremely proud of everyone involved, and I hope to continue it with Kappa Kappa Gamma’s philanthropy chair, Stephanie Tufano, and improve on it in the future.”
Born in Springfield, Mass., Brother Geisel attended Dartmouth College and joined the SigEp chapter there. He went on to become the iconic writer, poet, and cartoonist who is still celebrated today. Some of his most famous works include Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat.
