The Massachusetts Eta Chapter took first place in the school division of the American Cancer Society’s Pulling for Hope by pulling a JetBlue Airbus A320 airliner down the Logan Airport runway faster than any other university team.
The brothers were chosen to represent Northeastern University at Pulling for Hope after raising more than $24,000 for Relay for Life 2015, the most on their campus. Twenty-five chapter brothers agreed to have their heads shaved on the Relay for Life stage if they received over $15,000 in donations, a target they easily surpassed.
The chapter won the school division at Pulling for Hope, pulling the 41-ton aircraft 12 feet in 8.17 seconds and 50 feet in 13 seconds.
Through Pulling for Hope, the brothers raised $3,481, and counting, which will be applied to their Relay for Life 2016 campaign. Proceeds from the event go to support the American Cancer Society’s cancer research and awareness efforts.
The campaign is still accepting donations until December 31.
