This program commemorates the dedication of SigEp’s former Headquarters at 5800 Chamberlayne Road in Richmond, Virginia. The Fraternity had previously operated from several locations in Richmond. The move to Chamberlayne Road marked the first time the Fraternity constructed a building for its Headquarters.

Set on a bluff and still visible from Interstate 95, the building is framed by six white columns and (of course) featured bright red doors to welcome visitors. Adorned with photos of the founders and other Fraternity memorabilia and featuring a sweeping staircase, two floors of offices and meeting rooms, plus a basement storage area and mail room, the building was designed to be both attractive and functional.

Founders William Hugh Carter and Lucian Baum Cox attended and participated in the Nov. 5, 1967, dedication. Their signatures, along with those of then-Executive Director Donald Johnson, then-Grand President Ed Zollinger and Past Grand President Maynard Turner, can be seen on this copy of the program. Johnson served as host of a weekend of events celebrating the new building, including a luncheon, alumni and undergraduate dances, and guided tours.

This signed program, generously donated to the Fraternity by Brother Peter Hasenkamp, Dartmouth ’98, belonged to his late father, Past Grand President Bruce Hasenkamp, Dartmouth ’60.
