At the closing event of the 2025 Grand Chapter Conclave, the Alumni Awards Dinner, newly elected Grand President David R. Calderon, Cal Poly-Pomona ’88, shared his vision for the Fraternity. A former district governor, Calderon was first elected to the national board in 2015.

Reflecting on the challenges facing young men today, Calderon stated that SigEp is uniquely positioned to provide the guidance and support they need. “Young men are asking a lot of deep questions, and I am here to tell you that SigEp is the answer to many of those questions,” he said.

Calderon also stated the value of SigEp’s quest to become the largest and best fraternity in order to provide the SigEp experience to even more young men. “We are growing, but we are not growing fast enough,” he said. “We need to pick up the pace and reach as many young men as we can, as fast as we can.” Calderon’s call at Conclave has been answered — in the 2025–26 academic year, recruitment across the Fraternity was up 8 percent.

Rounding out the board’s executive officers are returning board members Michael A. Wolbert, Northwest Missouri ’94, who was elected Grand Secretary, and Daniel McVeigh, Texas Wesleyan ’90, who was re-elected as Grand Treasurer.

Other national directors include Grant Buttram, North Carolina State ’93; Scott Carr, California-Santa Barbara ’86; Mike Duggan, Missouri State ’74 (a former student director); Jay Hurt, Davidson ’88 (also a former student director); Darron Trobetsky, Indiana of Pennsylvania ’94; and Victor K. Wilson, Georgia ’82. (Dr. Regina Hyatt, Mississippi State University’s vice president of student affairs, has since resigned from the board.)

Three undergraduate brothers were also elected to the board as national student directors: Jake Broom, Oklahoma State ’26; Sam Grant, Florida ’26; and Kyle Sunderland, Missouri State ’28.
