Responsible For: As the Director of Education, Jason manages and leads the Education Department in developing and implementing education for undergraduates and volunteers. Jason collaborates with other teams at HQ to ensure all educational programs align with the strategic plan and are research and competency-based while maintaining a fun experience for members, alumni and volunteers.
Bio:
Jason is a Michigan native and graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2011 with a B.A. in
Spanish and Secondary Education. He joined SigEp in 2008 at our Michigan Kappa Chapter and held
positions of vice president of recruitment, vice president of programming, senior marshal, Sigma and Phi
coordinator. After graduation, Jason worked for JP Morgan Chase Bank for three and a half years before
transitioning to graduate school to earn his Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs
from the University of South Carolina (2017).
While in graduate school, Jason worked in the Fraternity and Sorority Life office as the advisor for the
Greek Conduct Board; co-advisor of IFC; advisor for NPHC and Multicultural Greek Council; and as the
university advisor for Dance Marathon. He also adjudicated individual student conduct cases and was a
house director for two different fraternities within the Greek Village. Post-graduation, Jason served as
an Interpersonal Violence Victim Advocate and Prevention Coordinator at the University of South
Carolina, aiming to reduce gender-based violence and has expertise in the intersectionality of the queer
community and IPV as well as working to develop healthy masculinity on a college campus. Additionally,
Jason taught University 101 for first-year students, the #1 ranked freshman seminar for public
universities. He is a multi-time finalist for instructor of the year. In 2021 he joined the Office of Career
Management in the nationally-ranked Darla Moore School of Business, managing career services for
accounting, risk management & insurance, and operations & supply chain majors achieving record-high
placement numbers and salaries while also teaching 2-4 sections of a career development course each
semester.
Jason has also served as a Chapter Counselor for Michigan Kappa; Balanced Man Steward for South
Carolina Alpha; and facilitated many EDGE and Carlson Leadership Academies for both undergraduates
and volunteer tracks. Outside of work, Jason describes himself as an “athletic nerd” who will be
regularly seen at the gym or running races, but also builds his own computers, plays video games, and
reads books.
