One thing about SigEps is that they are usually some of the most involved people on campus and in life. This is a way you can describe Caleb Massey. Caleb serves as a volunteer for five undergraduate chapters, has a family, and works as an engineer full-time. As an addition, Caleb also serves as the Chair of the SLC committee, is one of the first SigEp volunteers to get DISC certified and is the NUTS! McAuliffe Society brigadier general. Nobody can say Caleb is not dedicated. We are so thankful for his hard work and dedication to improve Sigma Phi Epsilon and the undergraduates. It is due to volunteers like Caleb that Sigma Phi Epsilon continues to succeed and grow every year.
Caleb graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (Virginia Beta) in 2014 and knew he wanted to serve as a volunteer. When Caleb got involved as a volunteer he made so many new relationships and they pushed him to be a better volunteer. He also gives a lot of thanks to his amazing wife, Logan Massey, who also serves in multiple volunteer roles for Sigma Phi Epsilon. She helps push him to be a better person and volunteer and he could not do any of this without her. Caleb loves attending NUTS! McAuliffe Society and Board of Governors events to connect with other volunteers and learn how he can improve in his practice. We cannot thank Caleb enough for all of his hard work for Sigma Phi Epsilon and we cannot wait to see what you continue to achieve.
Some things Caleb thinks about as a volunteer:
What is your favorite thing to do as a volunteer?
Show undergraduate members that the BMP is not about passive activities and is about engaged and active experiential learning. You sit in a classroom all day, and this is to help keep you involved outside of the classroom.
What keeps you up at night as a volunteer?
Historical focus on activities that would put us in the category of a business fraternity rather than focusing on engaging relationships with brothers. The new BMP does better with this. Also, Caleb wonders how he can better support his District Governor to help take stress off of them.
What is your biggest accomplishment/impact you have had/made during your time as a volunteer?
My work on the SLC committee and helping develop a rubric for them to be meaningful officers. He also loves the ability to facilitate meaningful content with undergrads at events like Carslon. Caleb loved working with the University of Alabama chapter at an SETR retreat after a rough patch and then getting to see them receive a Buc Cup at the 2025 Conclave. Lastly, Caleb tries bringing the light to undergraduates and their successes, for example, Sean Croker, one of his students, won the Fellow Award at Conclave 2025.
