Buchanan Cup Winners Announced at Grand Chapter Conclave

At the 59th Grand Chapter Conclave in Tampa Bay, thirty-two SigEp chapters were awarded the Buchanan Outstanding Chapter Award. Chapters that receive the coveted Buchanan Cup are recognized as the best of the best among the top fraternity chapters in the country.

These chapters have demonstrated sustained excellence over the past two years through year-round recruitment, strong academic performance, and an outstanding experience centered on the Balanced Man Program. Their operations set the standard for what it means to be a high-performing SigEp chapter.

These chapters are helping SigEp RISE and reclaim our title as the largest and best fraternity on every campus where we plant the SigEp flag. 

Gold Buchanan Cups

Nine chapters were honored with Gold Buchanan Cups. This elite recognition is awarded to chapters that have received Buchanan Cups for five or more consecutive Conclaves. These chapters exemplify consistency, leadership, and a deeply rooted culture of success.

Indiana Zeta – Valparaiso
This chapter’s experience shows what consistency and innovation look like. They’ve led their campus for decades, and today, they’re delivering one of the most personalized and valuable SigEp experiences in the country.Their Balanced Man Program builds deep relationships through mentoring, career prep, and the DiSC assessment, which helps brothers better understand themselves and each other. Weekly challenge meetings include fun lock-ins, creative workshops, and honest conversations. Ritual ceremonies like Burning Heart and Senior Reaffirmation are powerful, well-attended moments that reinforce what it means to be a SigEp.This chapter has been named Fraternity of the Year for 24 consecutive years — and they’re nearly 60% larger than any other chapter on campus. This chapter will be adding gold to their trophy case for the first time — this 2025 Gold Buchanan Cup goes to Indiana Zeta at Valparaiso University.
Iowa Delta – Drake
As a pilot chapter for the new Balanced Man Program, this Buc Cup recipient delivers a complete experience rooted in brotherhood, growth, and personal accountability. Weekly BMP meetings rotate through Sound Mind Talks, professional workshops, goal-setting reflections, and Ritual education — with alumni and faculty playing a hands-on role. Each challenge includes meaningful experiences like Gratitude Week, Philosophy Night, and Ritual public ceremonies including Hoop of Steel and Senior Reaffirmation.Recruitment is driven by a restructured Balanced Man Scholarship that starts early in the summer, leverages the whole chapter, and filters applicants on values alignment — a strategy that doubled their bid numbers. The largest fraternity on campus with 74 brothers, a 3.57 GPA, and impressive 91% member retention, they’re showing what peak performance looks like — and raising the bar for us all.This 2025 Gold Buchanan Cup goes to Iowa Delta at Drake University.
Louisiana Beta - Louisiana State
This chapter has built a brotherhood where excellence is expected, and where a commitment to being the largest and best powers their performance.As a pilot chapter for the new Balanced Man Program, they deliver weekly challenge meetings that focus on professional development, mental wellness, financial literacy, and life after college. Ritual ceremonies are integrated throughout the experience, reinforcing values and building unity across class years.Their recruitment starts early and finishes strong — with more than 1,000 Balanced Man Scholarship applicants and 300 interviews in the last two years. Their finalist banquet features university leaders and SigEp Grand Presidents, and nearly a third of each new class comes from the BMS. They’re now 171 men strong — one of the largest SigEp chapters in the country — and they’re winning at the highest level, in one of the SEC’s most competitive Greek systems.For a decade of sustained excellence, this 2025 Gold Buchanan Cup goes to Louisiana Beta at Louisiana State University.
Maine Alpha – Maine
This chapter is helping lead the way for SigEp’s future. They’re delivering one of the most complete and meaningful fraternity experiences in the country as they take full advantage of the new Balanced Man Program and updated Ritual.Their BMP features Sound Mind Talks, DISC assessments for all brothers, personal goal setting, and a senior capstone experience that prepares brothers for life after college. Mentorship, Ritual ceremonies, and high-impact retreats keep brothers connected across all class years — and every member is engaged, from start to finish.They’ve doubled in size since 2023, with more than 70% of new members recruited through an innovative Balanced Man Scholarship that includes family involvement and finalist events. They hold the top GPA in Greek life and have over 60 volunteers making their experience work at scale.This 2025 Gold Buchanan Cup recipient is unquestionably the largest and best on campus — with their 9th straight Buchanan Cup, congratulations to Maine Alpha at the University of Maine!
Michigan Theta – Lawrence Tech
This chapter proves that culture — not size — defines excellence. On a small campus, they’re reaching over 1,000 incoming students to help maintain their status as the largest fraternity. Thanks to year-round recruitment and a university-supported Balanced Man Scholarship, they build connections with potential new members at scale, long before rush.As a pilot chapter for the new Balanced Man Program, they deliver exceptional Know Thyself programming — experiences built around reflection, identity, and personal growth. Their challenge meetings integrate academic support and mental wellness, and alumni and faculty mentors help guide each brother from bid day to senior year.This chapter has built strong relationships across campus, developed a deep bench of engaged volunteers, and consistently lead in retention and academics. Nebraska Alpha – Nebraska
For decades, this chapter has been one of SigEp’s most consistent performers — and they keep finding new ways to raise the bar.As a pilot chapter for the new Balanced Man Program, they’ve built a brotherhood around challenge, mentorship, and results. Every member takes part in Sound Mind Talks, DiSC assessments, retreats, and a senior capstone designed to prepare them for life after graduation — all supported by the Ritual and one-on-one mentoring from alumni.Their year-round recruitment includes one of the most successful Balanced Man Scholarships in the country, with more than 300 applicants this year alone. They’ve held a 3.52 GPA for five straight semesters and consistently retain over 95% of their new members. They’re doing this with 150 members as the largest chapter on campus, and they’re clearly the best.This 2025 Gold Buchanan Cup, marking 30 straight years of Buc Cup-level performance, goes to Nebraska Alpha at the University of Nebraska.
New Jersey Alpha – Stevens Tech
As the largest fraternity on their campus, this chapter is leading in every category that matters. Their Balanced Man Program is deeply personalized and valuable to every member — blending SMART goal-setting, individual Sound Body fitness plans, one-on-one mentorship, and professional development. They’ve opened their academic resources to the entire campus through their SigEp Learning Community, with academic review sessions that have supported over half the student body.Their commitment to mental wellness, and Ritual-centered brotherhood has made them one of the most respected chapters in the region. With a manpower of 73 brothers, a 3.69 GPA, 91% retention rate, and strong volunteer support, this chapter isn’t just performing well — they’ve reached peak performance as the largest and best chapter on campus.This 2025 Gold Buchanan Cup goes to New Jersey Alpha at Stevens Institute of Technology.
Oklahoma Alpha - Oklahoma State
This chapter is leading the way in what a valuable, values-based fraternity experience can look like on a Power 5 campus. High standards and high engagement go hand in hand — and the results speak for themselves.This chapter’s year-round recruitment strategy includes a consistent set of criteria, a team-based approach to summer outreach, and structured conversations that focus on fit. Their efforts have paid off as they’ve grown to over 150 brothers while retaining 82% of members across four years. Their Balanced Man Program delivers real value at every stage of the college experience, with Firesides, CPR certification, career workshops, and mentorship pods that match brothers with alumni in their field.This chapter has built one of the largest fraternities on campus — and one of the most respected. South Dakota Alpha – South Dakota
Energy, engagement, and excellence are the norm for the daily experience at this chapter. As a pilot chapter for the new Balanced Man Program, their member experience centers on high-impact, high-energy weekly sessions — with leadership development, alumni mentorship, and real-world preparation meeting brothers’ needs throughout college. Their Sound Mind programming supports mental wellness, and they’ve built one of the strongest faculty partnerships in the country.The results of this culture speak for themselves. They’re the largest fraternity on campus. They’ve held the top GPA for 13 consecutive semesters, and their SigEp Learning Community environment is supported by the university provost. For four straight years, they’ve won their campus’s top award — so often that it’s now known as “The SigEp Show.”It’s been 10 years of consistent excellence so their Buc Cup is turning gold — this 2025 Gold Buchanan Cup goes to South Dakota Alpha at South Dakota State University.

With 196 brothers — nearly all of whom were first engaged through the Balanced Man Scholarship — they’ve built a values-based experience from day one. Colorado Delta - Colorado School of Mines
This chapter delivers results where it matters — in the classroom and in daily chapter life. Their Balanced Man Program includes career prep with alumni mentors, and they center chapter life on Ritual ceremonies like Burning Heart, Hoop of Steel, and Senior Reaffirmation. Their year-round recruitment strategy brings in nontraditional PNMs and underlines their inclusive, values-based approach. With the top GPA in Greek life for four consecutive semesters, they’ve built a chapter culture as rigorous and rewarding as their school itself and are among the largest chapters on campus with 89 brothers.This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Colorado Delta at the Colorado School of Mines.
Colorado Gamma – CSU
This chapter is renowned across campus — not just for their size and quality, but for their consistency. They sustain success through an annual chapter retreat that combines brotherhood and leadership development, blending physical challenge with reflection and goal-setting. Their Balanced Man Program provides Sound Mind discussions, career readiness events, and mentorship across all class years. Year-round recruitment and a refined BMS process bring in high-performing students who align with SigEp’s values. They benefit from dozens of alumni-volunteers who help keep them among the largest fraternities on campus — and they’re certainly the best.This Buchanan Cup goes to Colorado Gamma at Colorado State University.
Connecticut Alpha – Connecticut
This chapter understands what it takes to win — and they’ve built a leadership model that delivers peak performance. With a newly restructured Balanced Man Scholarship that integrates directly with recruitment, they’re identifying high-potential men and turning applicants into brothers, at scale. Their year-round recruitment strategy includes social media-driven lead generation, with the help of video content and their chapter site; 1-on-1 meetings over a meal or an activity, and PNM lead followup from the entire recruitment committee. Their Balanced Man Program features high-impact workshops and a chapter-wide retreat. Florida Alpha – Florida

Their Balanced Man Program delivers real value through career coaching, mock interviews, and etiquette dinners. Georgia Alpha – Georgia Tech
This chapter’s culture of ownership runs deep — and it shows in every corner of their SigEp experience. Their summer recruitment strategy leads the way with TopGolf outings, MLB games, and early outreach that produced their largest fall class in a decade — and 100% new member retention. A reimagined Balanced Man Scholarship brought in 154 applicants and campus-wide recognition. Georgia Delta – Georgia

They restructured their Balanced Man Scholarship process, nearly quadrupling applicants and converting 23 into new members. Their officer transition retreat fuels a campus-leading recruitment strategy, with events starting as early as February. Their Balanced Man Program engages brothers through leadership workshops, coaching from faculty members, and chapter-wide financial literacy sessions. Indiana Theta – Trine

Kansas Gamma - Kansas

With hundreds of Balanced Man Scholarship applicants, a values-based recruitment process and a pitch the leans into the chapter’s accomplishments, they’re setting the standard while retaining 96% of new members. Their Balanced Man Program blends goal setting with alumni mentorship and professional development, giving every brother an opportunity to step into his potential. They hold the top GPA among fraternities — and have been named Chapter of the Year six years in a row. This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Kansas Gamma at the University of Kansas.
Kentucky Beta - Louisville
This chapter is helping shape the future of SigEp. As a pilot chapter for the new Balanced Man Program, they’re delivering a powerful and innovative experience. Their BMP includes everything from sound mind discussion groups that promote mental health, to classroom-style life skills sessions and workshops on everything from LinkedIn to home buying. The brothers have also seen increased attendance at the Rite of Brotherhood. A revamped Balanced Man Scholarship brought in over a third of their fall class, and their year-round recruitment efforts are leading campus in both diversity and retention. With 38 engaged volunteers, academic accountability systems, and the top new member GPAs on campus, this chapter isn’t just adapting — they’re leading.This Buchanan Cup goes to Kentucky Beta at the University of Louisville.
Kentucky Epsilon - Murray State
This chapter’s excellence shows up in every area as the largest and best chapter on campus. They lead campus in size, retention, and involvement — with a majority of brothers holding leadership roles outside the chapter. Their Balanced Man Program includes personal finance workshops, mental health programming, and Ritual experiences that build unity across all class years. And with a 3.51 GPA, they’ve now held the top academic spot in IFC for 43 straight semesters.This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Kentucky Epsilon at Murray State University.
Mississippi Beta – Mississippi State
This chapter is redefining what fraternity can be. Their new Balanced Man Program is open to all members and packed with meaningful, brotherhood-building experiences — from career coaching and Sound Mind discussions to senior capstones on financial literacy — and fun social events. Their recruitment model brings in high-quality men year-round, including more than 1,600 Balanced Man Scholarship applicants in two years! They’re aiming to overtake the largest chapter on campus with a 250-man goal — and they’re well on their way.This Buchanan Cup goes to Mississippi Beta at Mississippi State University.
Mississippi Gamma - Southern Mississippi
This chapter is embracing peak performance and benefits from being largest and best at their Division 1 school. Their Balanced Man Program helps brothers develop a sound mind and sound body through setting and achieving individual goals. Brothers understand themselves through the DISC assessment and build stronger brotherhood as part of a high-value experience that drives retention. Their year-round recruitment model leans on compelling social media content through Raise Your Bar+, publicity on campus, and a BMS banquet that creatively leverages parents of members. They’ve held the top fraternity GPA four semesters in a row and are 30% larger than their closest competitor.This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Mississippi Gamma at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Missouri Alpha – Missouri
This chapter’s trajectory is no accident — it’s the product of their vision to become largest and best on campus. Through year-round recruitment, a re-energized Balanced Man Scholarship and summer recruitment events throughout the region, they doubled in size in just two years! As a new Balanced Man Program pilot chapter, their member development focuses on helping brothers achieve personal goals and includes speakers that support Sound Mind and mental health. They keep SigEp’s Ritual top of mind through frequent ceremonies like Burning Heart and Hoop of Steel. With 94% of members landing an internship by junior year and a campus-wide reputation for leadership, service, athletics and academics, they’ve built an exceptional experience.This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Missouri Gamma at Missouri S&T.
Missouri Mu - Truman State
This chapter is proving what’s possible for SigEp — even when campus enrollment is shrinking. They are embracing the ethos of largest and best fraternity — they are nearly triple the size of the average fraternity. Top in academics, athletics, philanthropy and brotherhood, the chapter leans on a valued experience centered on the new Balanced Man Program. With monthly Sound Mind Talks, SMART goal-setting for members, and well-attended Ritual ceremonies, they recruit and retain more men than anyone else. They’re not just maintaining quality and quantity, they’re dominating on their campus as the largest and best.This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Missouri Mu at Truman State University.
Montana Beta – Montana State
This Buchanan Cup recipient is pursuing a clear path to peak performance. Once the smallest fraternity on campus, they’ve grown steadily in the past two years by focusing on values-based recruitment, meaningful development, and a culture that brothers want to stay in. Their BMP provides a playbook where brothers can set and achieve personal goals, benefiting from chapterwide career coaching, senior mentorship, and public ceremonies. With 29 semesters of academic excellence and a standout presence on campus, this is a chapter that is well on its way to largest and best on campus.This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Montana Beta at Montana State University.
Ohio Theta – Cincinnati
This chapter has created a brotherhood that more men want to join — and stay in. They’ve grown 76% in two years while retaining 95% of new members, thanks to a year-round recruitment process that includes pre-rush interviews and early outreach. Their Balanced Man Program keeps brothers engaged from bid day to graduation, with alumni mentorship, leadership prep, and capstone experiences like Burning Heart and Hoop of Steel that celebrate growth and SigEp’s Ritual. It’s a meaningful college experience for members, and one that more men want to be part of.This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Ohio Theta at the University of Cincinnati!
Pennsylvania Beta Beta – Drexel
This chapter shows what it means to lead with consistency, character, and culture. Participating in the new Balanced Man Program and Ritual pilot, they’ve built a top-tier experience. Brothers set personal SMART goals in every challenge to grow in personalized, impactful ways. Quarterly 1-on-1 check-ins toward those goals helps keeps brothers accountable in each of the four pillars of the BMP. In recruitment, they focus on values and relationships, using the Balanced Man Scholarship to attract values-driven men who stay in the chapter — and lead. South Carolina Alpha – South Carolina
This chapter delivers peak performance at scale. With over 200 brothers, they’re one of the largest SigEp chapters in the country — and every member benefits from a Balanced Man Program that develops a sound mind and sound body while building deep relationships. Weekly Sound Mind talks, career prep events, public Ritual ceremonies, and senior capstones make the BMP both personal and powerful. This chapter has hit a 3.5 GPA for seven straight semesters and retained 92% of members — proving that quality and quantity can go hand in hand.This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to South Carolina Alpha at the University of South Carolina.
Utah Alpha - Utah State
This chapter is delivering peak performance as the largest chapter with the best experience on campus. They’re the most involved fraternity on campus, with a Balanced Man Program that includes Sound Mind Talks, faculty-led seminars, career networking, and personalized senior experiences. Their year-round recruitment model includes high school counselor outreach and keynote-driven BMS banquets that attract the top students in the state. With strong Ritual and public ceremony integration and the highest GPA among all chapters, they’re showing what’s possible with the right culture and a clear plan.This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Utah Alpha at Utah State University.
Virginia Omicron - Lynchburg
This chapter is proof that the SigEp experience can make a difference on any campus. This small but mighty chapter has more than doubled in size from two years ago, and the brothers have earned SigEp Learning Community accreditation, become the largest fraternity on campus, and built a Balanced Man Program that matters in brothers’ lives. They’ve made memories that will last a lifetime, on campus and at SigEp events across the country. On a deferred rush campus, they recruit men through letters of intent and a BMS banquet that builds connections with families early. This 2025 Buchanan Cup goes to Virginia Omicron at the University of Lynchburg.
Wisconsin Theta – Wisconsin-Platteville
This Buchanan Cup recipient is unequivocally the largest and best fraternity on campus. The core experiences of the new Balanced Man Program define chapter life. Whether it’s the DISC assessment and the insights it provides for each individual brother … or meaningful Sound Mind Talks that support mental wellbeing … or a fun senior experience, their chapter experience is something everyone on campus wants to be part of. They’ve received more than 400 Balanced Man Scholarship applicants and have built a brotherhood that is visible, valuable, and built to last.
