Spouse/Guest and Family Programming

While your SigEp may be busy with programming, board meetings or winning the golf tournament, there will also be a few fun events and activities specifically for spouses, partners and guests.

All events will be hosted at or depart from the Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk and are great ways for you to meet fellow spouses and guests. We’ll also greet you at the Conclave registration desk with a fun gift bag!

Please note: these offerings are only available to those who are registered for Conclave as a spouse/guest.

Thursday, Aug. 3

Celebrate The Tastes of Texas
10 a.m. - 2 p.m.:
Join culinary writer and Food Chick Tours leader Julia Rosenfeld for a Texas Two Step of Tex-Mex and BBQ delights. You’ll start your day with a barbecue feast from one of the state’s top-rated smokehouses, and tour the pits with the pitmaster. Dine on smoked meats and unique side dishes that define the complex flavors of true Texas Q. Then it’s off to a local favorite “dive” for an array of Tex-Mex items. Here, the chef will talk about his family’s multigenerational hands-on approach to turning dried corn into silky masa as you enjoy San Antonio’s famous puffy tacos and more, plus watermelon margaritas and delicious house-made dessert. In between, the group will take a short guided stroll at the grounds of Mission San Jose, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Throughout the journey, your host will provide details about the city’s history, food heritage and culture. This experience includes all food and drink items at each stop, and round-trip transportation

Saturday, Aug. 5

Wine tasting
2 p.m. - 3 p.m.: Suite at the hotel
A perennial favorite of our spouses/guests! Join certified sommelier, Michael Shef, Southern Methodist '93, for a fun (and educational!) tasting of specially selected wines. Complimentary and open to those 21 and older who are registered for Conclave as a spouse/guest.

“I believe the SigEp experience is incomplete without attending at least one Conclave. You gain a perspective that is impossible to describe without seeing firsthand how our outstanding chapters are making a difference in their community, and how our alumni and volunteers give so selflessly of their time and talents to our Fraternity.” — Stephen Yeargin, Tennessee-Martin ’06

“While regional events and alumni connections had always emphasized that SigEp was a national and multi-generational institution, the true enormity of SigEp was not felt until I attended Conclave. This has helped me reframe SigEp from being complementary to my undergraduate experience to instead being a lifelong community and commitment to Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love, long past the end of college.” — Henry White, IIT ’22
