Founders Day of Giving
Frequently Asked Questions
When is Founders Day of Giving?
Our campaign kicks off at 12:00 a.m. ET on Nov. 1 and runs through 11:59 p.m. ET on Nov. 2. Together, we honor the day in 1901 when our 12 founders established Sigma Phi Epsilon in Richmond, Virginia.
Why $2.5 Million, and why now?
Your gift to the Annual Fund directly powers the undergraduate experience for 12,500 undergraduate brothers across nearly 200 chapters. It funds values-based leadership development, including the Balanced Man Program, Carlson Leadership Academy, Ruck Leadership Institute, and Life After College. By funding national programs, you deliver local impact – strengthening chapter infrastructure and ensuring cost is never a barrier to a life-changing fraternity experience.
How do I make sure my gift counts for my chapter?
Select your school in the Chapter Challenge dropdown at checkout to credit your gift to the Most Donors and Most Dollars leaderboards. Not affiliated with a chapter? Choose Friends of SigEp or SigEp Sweethearts. To support multiple chapters, please complete separate transactions for each designation. If you need help splitting donations that you’ve already submitted, please contact our team at foundation@sigep.net. We’re here to help!
Can I give before Nov. 1?
You can make your early gift here. We’ll credit all early gifts on Nov. 1, and they’ll count toward our overall campaign total. The donor rolls and Chapter Challenge leaderboards (Top 25 Donors and Top 25 Dollars Raised) will officially go live and update on Nov. 1.
How do I join the Board of Governors (BOG)?
Earn Board of Governors status with $1,500+ in unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund within a single fiscal year. Because the Annual Fund is immediate-use, these gifts give SigEp the flexibility to power leadership programs, scholarships, and chapter resources where they are needed most.
Can I set up a Challenge Gift to motivate my chapter?
Challenge Gifts start at $2,500 and are the single most effective way to multiply your impact. Once fellow brothers hit your goal, your match unlocks. Deadline: Challenge Gifts must be finalized by Oct. 15. Contact Braden Botkin for step-by-step setup: braden.botkin@sigep.net / 804-441-2897.
Can I double my impact with an employer match?
Many companies match donations made by their employees (and sometimes retirees) to 501(c)(3) organizations. Check with your HR department or the search tool on our giving page to double or triple your impact. Learn more here.
Can I make a gift through my Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)?
You can recommend a grant directly to the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation through your DAF provider (e.g., Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard). Must be postmarked by Nov. 2 to qualify for Founders Day of Giving. Visit our DAF gifts page to learn more.
Pro Tip: Make sure to note your home chapter or preferred fund in the grant description so we can attribute your gift correctly on the leaderboard!
Does my recurring gift count towards the Chapter Challenge?
Recurring gifts — both new and existing — count directly toward your chapter’s total, giving them a powerful boost toward the top of the leaderboard.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
The Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity, so your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by U.S. law. An automated email receipt will be sent immediately after completing your gift.
Who should I contact with questions about my gift?
Please contact the Sigma Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation at 804.353.1901 or email us at foundation@sigep.net.
