After a long, hard-fought battle with cancer, Bredenbeck passed away on May 5, 2016. He was laid to rest in the Cleveland area on Saturday, May 28. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley; three children, Wayne, Kurt and Julie; and grandchildren Hanna and Bailey.

Honor of Philias celebrates devotion to fallen brother’s family and community
The Honor of Philias recognizes SigEps who have demonstrated the cardinal principle of brotherly love through exceptional acts of unselfish service. The 2015 award was given to the brothers of Southeast Missouri State, who rallied around the family of their late chapter brother Bobby Christman, ’17, and ensured his legacy would aid others in need.
Fallen SigEp Captain Chris Norgren awarded the Lifetime Hero Award by the American Red Cross
The Wichita, Kansas, chapter of the American Red Cross has posthumously honored Captain Christopher L. Norgren, Missouri S&T ’07, with the Lifetime Hero Award. Norgren, a U.S. Marine, was killed in a helicopter crash during earthquake relief efforts in Nepal in May 2015.
