The Ruck Leadership Institute has long been SigEp’s landmark leadership program and a coveted experience for undergraduates to explore and develop personal leadership skills. For more than 20 years, SigEps from across the country have come together to learn from each other and from some incredibly successful alumni.
The good news? We’re still going to make those things happen! While with COVID-19 we can’t come together this summer in Richmond, we will provide an online experience for scholars — the Virtual Ruck Leadership Institute!
Virtual Ruck will be an online experience where scholars will engage with brothers from across the country, as well as successful alumni. Discussions will focus on developing their leadership practices, with a specific focus of how to lead in this unprecedented time and beyond. This won’t feel like an online classes or a Zoom meeting. Scholars will be in a small cohort of brothers with an awesome alumni facilitator, where they will get to know and engage with each other on a weekly basis. They will be challenged, supported and motivated by their SigEp brothers. The best part? These brothers will be building a strong community over the summer who will continue to provide friendship, laughs and guidance into the upcoming academic year.
Virtual Ruck will last for eight weeks (from mid-June to mid-August). There will be three large group sessions throughout the experience, plus a weekly cohort session (at a time/day the cohort will determine together). Scholars will be expected to:
- Complete an online leadership assessment
- Actively engage in calls and virtual sessions throughout the summer (1-2 hours per week)
- Complete some pre- and post-work to deepen their knowledge (1 hour per week)
Want to know something else pretty awesome about this experience? It doesn’t cost a thing to participate!
