All long-term initiatives require immediate investments. Your restricted investments to endow SigEp’s life-changing experiences will not only permanently finance programs/scholarships but also fund the experiences of today.
Eight percent of restricted gifts to programming and scholarships will be reallocated to the annual fund to meet the immediate needs of our undergraduates. A similar two percent reallocation is applied to gifts restricted to SigEp Learning Community or housing projects. (These reallocations do not affect fund corpus, nor the ability to use the fund to impact undergraduates.)
Because of this one-time reallocation, annual management fees remain low, allowing endowed funds to grow and make an even larger impact over time. The current management fee is .5% and applied quarterly at .125%. The current spending policy for endowed funds is 4.5% of the 12-quarter average as of December 31.
Each year, SigEp’s Educational Foundation Board of Trustees revisits and may adjust fees and spending policy as it assesses economic and market conditions, as well as student, donor and organizational needs. Similarly, SigEp’s Investment Committee regularly reviews investment strategy, as well as the performance and fees of SigEp’s outsourced chief investment officer, Global Endowment Management.
If you would like to establish an endowment* with the SigEp Educational Foundation or have questions regarding fund management, please contact Korey Gardner, Donor Relations Manager for the Foundation.
*A gift or a multi-year pledge commitment of $25,000 is required to establish an endowment.
