During the University of New Hampshire’s Greek Leadership Awards ceremony this month, three brothers of the New Hampshire SEC took home individual awards, including the Greek Emerging Leader Award, the Pillars of Athena Award, and a Greek of the Year Award.
These are the first Greek Leadership Awards won by New Hampshire since the chapter restarted in 2007.
Chapter president Christopher King, 16 was one of two winners of the Greek Emerging Leader Award, which recognizes underclassmen for their rising potential and service during their first full year within their Greek organization. Brother King was recognized for being on the executive board in two different positions during his first year as a brother, and for serving currently as chapter president.
Vice president of membership development Craig Tyer, ‘16 was awarded the Pillars of Athena Award, which recognizes two members of the Greek community for their outstanding scholarship and service to the community. Brother Tyer has one of the highest GPAs in his chapter, and is a leader in community service hours, having previously served as community service and philanthropy chairman.
Lastly, brother Joel Wyatt, 14 received one of four Greek of the Year awards, which recognize members of the Greek community who exemplify the values of their respective Greek organization as well as the values of the Greek community as a whole. The award also recognizes outstanding service to one’s chapter, the Greek community and the UNH community as a whole. Brother Wyatt served as chapter president in 2014, and as a senior now serves on the recruitment and membership development boards.
The entire chapter plans to continue these efforts as they diligently work to recharter.
