Clyde Luther, Nebraska ’51, was inducted into the inaugural class of the Virginia Golf Hall of Fame in 2016. Luther, a retired commercial airline and U.S. Air Force pilot, is a nationally known expert on the Rules of Golf. From 2000 to 2011, he was the chief rules official of the NCAA Division I golf championship. He was also the head golf rules official for the Atlantic Coast Conference from 1991 to 2015. By the time of his hall of fame induction, Luther had been a volunteer rules official for more than 120 United States Golf Association championships, three Presidents Cups, The Masters and the PGA Championship.
