Residential Learning Communities

Highlights

Chapters who start or convert to the Balanced Man Program (BMP) fair much better on open recruitment campuses where they can sell the ideals and principles of Sound Mind and Sound Body, instead of attempting to differentiate from social fraternities. These chapters average 68 members with a 3.17 GPA.

While BMP chapters fair well in these circumstances, those who can openly recruit men once freshman are accepted to the university and are a Residential Learning Community average 84 men, retain 83 percent of those men for four years, and earn a 3.25 GPA. This success seems predicated on the ability to attract those who are interested and qualified, and then delivering the programming in the right environment.

"Georgia Delta's adoption of the RLC has led to countless improvements - most notably, the RLC program has reinforced positive study habits that are necessary to maintain the #1 GPA on campus for 3 consecutive semesters." “We are proud of the new Faculty Fellow office. The people who come to the SigEp house to meet me are impressed, and our goal of getting people here and dispelling some myths about fraternities is starting to work.”
—C. Bryan Lassiter, Georgia '04
—Dean Victor Wilson, former Faculty Fellow at University of Georgia
